Anna Forsby, Associate professor at Stockholm University and active at Swetox Södertälje, has been appointed as a recipient of The Björn Ekwall Award, awarded by The Björn Ekwall Memorial Foundation.
The Björn Ekwall Memorial Foundation was established by the Scandinavian Society for Cellular Toxicology (SSCT) in 2001. The main purpose of the foundation is to honor Dr. Björn Ekwall’s memory by giving a reward to researchers who have contributed significantly to cell toxicology, for example. by developing new in vitro tests, mechanistic or validation studies.
Anna Forsby has developed the NociOcular-test, in which painful application of irritants to the eyes of experimental animals can be replaced by in vitro studies on nerve cells in culture. The prize ceremony takes place on October, 15, 2018, at the 20th International Congress on In Vitro Toxicology in Berlin.
