Swetox Academy Workshop for PhD students and postdocs
August 21-22, 2018
Welcome to the 4th Swetox Academy Workshop!
The workshop is aimed at PhD students and postdocs from the eleven universities that are part of the Swetox collaboration
– all such junior researchers active in the broad area of chemicals, health and/or environment are welcome!
See below for other groups that are also invited.
Don’t miss the chance to attend this fourth Swetox Academy Workshop; we hope that it will be as well-attended and appreciated as the first three ones.
The main aim of these workshops is to enable networking; between e.g. the PhD students and postdocs at the eleven universities as well as at other Swedish and Nordic universities. Senior academic researchers from Sweden and the other Nordic countries will also be invited, as will representatives from e.g. governmental agencies and companies, selected based on their activities in the areas of chemicals, health and environment. Facilitating interactions between science and society is another important aim of the Swetox Academy Workshops, as is the broadening of the students’ scientific and societal perspectives. Swetox Academy also wants to stimulate the development of education within the areas of chemicals, health and environment. Although the Swetox-run activities will take on a different organizational form next year, the needs for educational collaboration will remain.
During the workshop, participants will share and learn about the research going on at the participants’ universities and at Swetox Södertälje. Keynote speakers as well as more senior participants (from universities, agencies and companies) will be asked to talk about how they ended up where they are now, as well as share their perspective on e.g. the role of research, as well as the need for competence within the Swetox focus area, in society.
We are happy to inform you that one of the keynote speakers will be Linda Birnbaum, Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP) in USA.
